 9:15-10:00  Guest Speaker, “EF Tours”  
During this time you will learn about how to create pen pals from Japan in your classroom as well as learn how to travel free abroad with your classroom.

 10:00-11:00  Keynote Speakers -

Co-teaching in the High School Inclusion Classroom (Both Sessions, High School)

Liz McDowell and Mike Sullivan

This workshop will focus on the co-teaching approach we utilize after four years of collaboration.  The journey to where we are today, our changing roles in the classroom, differentiated instruction, use of technology, parent involvement and communication, classroom management, collaborative planning and grading, and time issues will all be discussed.   We will also talk about our "wish list" for the future and what works and what has not worked.  We look forward to sharing our journey with you.

11:00-11:40   Technology Break-out Session -
Some of the best websites for educators and students will be shared.  You will have time to explore these sites and begin planning engaging lessons for your students.

11:40-12:00   Grade Level Discussions: 
Tips, Techniques, and Tricks of ways to differentiate instruction will be shared.  Bring a classroom scenario that is a challenge for you, or share an idea on how you have effectively dealt with meeting the needs of all learners.

.12:00 – 1:00  Lunch on your own.  Bring your own lunch, visit the WAWA (located within BCIT), or visit a local restaurant.  A list of options will be provided.

The STAR Lab (Grades K-12) by
The STAR Lab
is the first truly portable planetarium invented back in 1977 by Philip Sadler and his class of middle school students in Lincoln, Massachusetts.  We are fortunate for you to see what the STAR Lab is about and how you can implement into your classroom.

 

The New Standards (Grades K-5) by Tammy Zimmerman and Kristen Ludman
This workshop will help teachers gain mastery and comfort with new common core standards.  We will analyze and identify essential concepts and skills and work on developing a clear understanding of what students should know and be able to do by the end of each grade.

 

Developmental Spelling (K-3) by Donna Gould, Michelle Weist, and Melissa Roberts, Maple Shade 
Do your students often say to you, “How do you spell…?”  Come learn how to meet the needs of all learners through differentiated spelling instruction.  Handouts will be provided.  Bring your own 2" binder and highlighter.

 

I.M.P.A.C.T  Math: Inexpensive Math Projects All Children Touch (Pre K-2)  by Kimberly Mueller 
Have you ever gone math bowling? Do you know the ice cube shake? How about playing popsicle math? These easy, hands-on and inexpensive math projects (plus many more) will make your students ask for more.  In addition, you will learn how to integrate technology and receive practical and creative ways to reach your students

Help Your Students Read AND Understand (Grades 4-8 & Special Education) by Kathy Kish
Do your students struggle to answer questions posed about the text?  Come learn some engaging teaching ideas that will support comprehension.

 

Vocabulary Instruction for All Students(k-8) by Sue Esposito
This session will provide participants with research information and ideas to enhance vocabulary instruction in the classroom through the use of an integrated approach. This instructional approach is flexible enough to fit the needs of all learners, including struggling readers, special education students, English language learners, average readers, and gifted readers. Participants will learn strategies for providing opportunities for deeper processing of words through fun and engaging activities.

 

Question and Answer About EF Tours (k-12) by Milly Dignetti
This session will provide participants time to ask questions, conversations, and collaborate about traveling abroad.  In addition will share ways to start pen pals in your classroom to increase literacy through real life experiences.

 

2:30-2:45 Wrap Up/Reflection

From the North:
295 South to Exit 45A (Mount Holly). Take a left at 3rd Traffic light (Irick Road). Right at the 1st light (Woodlane Road) BCIT is the first entrance on your left

From the South:
295 South to Exit 45A (Mount Holly). Take a left at 3rd Traffic light (Irick Road). Right at the 1st light (Woodlane Road) BCIT is the first entrance on your left.

From the West:
From Burlington-Bristol Bridge take 130 North for 1/2 mile to route 541 S.
From NJ Turnpike Take exit 5 to route 541 S.
then follow these directions:
Take 541 South to Woodlane Road . Make a right on Woodlane Road (jughandle type exit) BCIT is approximately 2.5 miles on the right just past the county library.

From the East:
Take Route 206 north past the Route 38 intersection. Turn left at the next light onto Route 630W (Woodlane Road ).  Go thru 5 lights and BCIT entrance is the last driveway on the right just past the county library.
