The use of high quality literature in the classroom as mentor/touchstone texts provides much motivation for students. Literature is a wonderful vehicle for students to expand their vocabulary, create connections, and build background knowledge that can increase student success across the curriculum. During this session much literature will be shared, in addition to strategies for its usethat will encourage students to increase their reading, writing, and thinking capacity. Participants will also be able to explore the potential of books to help them reach their instructional goals.

Morning Meeting (K-6th grade, including Special Education)
Note:  This will be held for one session only lasting 90 minutes
Dr. Rachel Feldman and Mrs. Jennifer Murray Holly Hills School, Westampton Township School District

In this interactive workshop, you will be engaged in learning and experiencing the four parts of Morning Meeting, a key component of Responsive Classroom.  Discover practical and easy to use strategies to begin each day to set the tone for learning, establish and maintain expectations, build a strong classroom community, and empower your students. 

Teaching Tricks for Engagement (Both Sessions, 2-8)
Eric Hibbs, Director of Curriculum Mt. Holly Public Schools

This session is designed for the 2-8 classroom.  You will leave with strategies for engaging your students in any type of learning classroom.  Easily implemented and involved in lessons!

 

Turn Them On, Tune Them Up and Turn Them Loose!
Motivating Young Writers K-3

Vicki Dugan (Both Sessions, K-3)

Motivating young children to write is a huge task, but is crucial in their success.
Strategies will be offered to help the teacher develop a classroom community in which students are eager, willing and motivated to write.   We’ll discuss the use of author studies, exposure to a variety of types of writing that are meaningful and the use of technology.

Carole McKiernan(Both Sessions, K-12)

Do you have a Burlington County library card?  How do you utilize this valuable resource in your school?  Come and learn about the many programs and services offered by the Burlington County library system.

Eugene Catanzaro (One Session, 9-12)

Are you a high school teacher looking for innovative ways to reach out to your students?  This workshop will focus on using technology in the classroom using Nings.  Mr. Catanzaro will go through the different applications and uses of Nings.

From the North:
295 South to Exit 45A (Mount Holly). Take a left at 3rd Traffic light (Irick Road). Right at the 1st light (Woodlane Road) BCIT is the first entrance on your left

From the South:
295 South to Exit 45A (Mount Holly). Take a left at 3rd Traffic light (Irick Road). Right at the 1st light (Woodlane Road) BCIT is the first entrance on your left.

From the West:
From Burlington-Bristol Bridge take 130 North for 1/2 mile to route 541 S.
From NJ Turnpike Take exit 5 to route 541 S.
then follow these directions:
Take 541 South to Woodlane Road . Make a right on Woodlane Road (jughandle type exit) BCIT is approximately 2.5 miles on the right just past the county library.

From the East:
Take Route 206 north past the Route 38 intersection. Turn left at the next light onto Route 630W (Woodlane Road ).  Go thru 5 lights and BCIT entrance is the last driveway on the right just past the county library.
